Eickhorn RT1/ll80 Help

I recently picked up an RT1 on ebay, and the quality of the piece is surprisingly low. I have to wonder if I haven't purchased an Eickhorn-marked Chinese copy instead.

The blade play is clearly excessive:

...and there is an obvious casting defect on the bolster (just above the letter Y in GERMANY):

Any owners of legitimate RT-1s out there? Is this typical of this model, or have I got myself a lemon?

I emailed Eickhorn yesterday and am awaiting their reply.

About time to post an update, I guess; Eickhorn has ignored both my emails. This is the last of their products I'll be buying for a while...
