Eickhorn-Solingen PRT-XII Pro Rescue Knife

it think you might want to go into more detail about what you want to use it for.
it would be great to keep in the car incase of a serious accident, so you can get out (if the seatbelt is jammed) and to get others out, but as an outdoor tool you can get far better, dependant on what you want to do with it.

My father in law has the VIII model http://www.tetragon.ca/Products.cgi?sku=PRT-VIII which is basically the same. When he first got it the blade opened and closed nicely, but now the knife locks up sometimes when opening/closing and you need to play around with the lock to make it open/close. Also mec.ca is listing the weight at 190 grams which is 6.7 oz. That would be a heavy pocket knife for camping.

Thanks everybody is it just me or is Puma claiming they make the same knife?

- What I will use the knife for is possibly cutting rope, also for survival as you never know what could happen. It must also be legal in Canada and not be made in China.

When I'm not camping I will have the knife in my car for emergency situations cutting seat belts breaking widows etc.

Puma also makes a version with a clip point blade. If you were to buy this style I'd recommend the regular clip point and not the blunt point. You'd probably find the clip point to be more useful.

However if you want a great knife that doesn't cost an arm and a leg ( probaly less than the Puma/Eickhorn), you might want to check out the Kershaw Tyrade in G10.

I got one last week and can't believe how much knife I got for so little money.

Its an "emergency car rescue knife"...not a camping knife.

A screwdriver tip, glass breaker, and seatbelt cutter are not "useful on the trail."

If you are looking for a folding knife for camping, I like the Victorinox Farmer...

Though a lot of people also like the Victorinox One Hand Trekker...
