Either or...

I'm considering getting a Parangatang or a Swabbie, but I'm not sure which one...
I sold my rtak II last spring (bonehead move) and I'm looking for a blade that can 1. Chop, 2. Baton, and 3. Ferocious antipersonnel blade...
I like both, and they are within $10 of each other online....
Idk guys, I'm really torn.
What would you get and why?

Personally, I'd get a BK9. Actually....I already have one.

From the two choices.....go with the Parangatang.

Of course....the Zomstro is a considerable option as well.

get both. I was torn with the same decision, so I made a promise to myself not to buy any more knives for the rest of the year if I bought those 2. Bought them a month ago and keeping my promise The Swabbie is not only fun, it's a hell of a chopper, and the parangatang goes thru wood like a fat kid eating cake.

I can't speak from personal experience about the Swabbie, but regarding the parangatang I fully agree with zuluninja. If you can make an opportunity to handle both items it may help in your decision.

Parangatang without a doubt.

Longer blade length, less upsweep, and no guards to get in the way. The extra blade length is really the big kicker for me. It gets it into the real machete/bolo/parang length range, but the swabbie is kind of stuck between the large knife and short machete size range.

Although, I don't own either of them, so what do I really know .
