Any thoughts and opions about them.

I bought one alittle over 20years ago.Got it cheap. 80bucks IIRC.

Has 6.6inch length blade with 1 1/2 edge. Called a MK 3 I beleive.

Light colored ,No checkering, wood handles with copper rivets
fastening it to the blade.

Steel square cross guard.
both blade and CG are bead blasted finish.

A green web nylon sheath with 2 rivets
No D ring on the bottom.
On the back is a faint richmond,VA

Feels real good in the hand.

And I used the heck out of it in the desert in 90-91 .

any thought IF I should get it refurbished ?
Or should I leave it be??

leave it be and keep using the heck out of it -- or hold onto it until you find the right person to pay it forward to.

Does it look like this one? The wooden handled one is a Warrior #3. Great knife, this one started the EK collection for me.

Very cool knives. I use to own the same version, but the handle was wrapped in OD paracord. Sometimes I miss it but it went to a good home - gave it to a buddy when he left for 3/75th.

I had a Warrior (new from a non-BF Dealer), not a bad piece I guess, but definitely didn't have the edge retention or quality of the Richmond Ek's from the 80's..

I was going to put up a link to the facsimile Your Silent Partner PDF which used to be on the EK Commando Knives site, but of course that isn't there any more. When did they get taken over by Ka-Bar?

In the late 70's and early 80's the US magazines I used to get always seemed to have adverts for these great-looking knives. Of course I wasn't reading Home & Garden! :D

I have to admit being very disappointed in Ek daggers. The grinds on most I've seen were not that good. I have one in pieces somewhere in the shop because I got frustrated with what's basically a simple knife that had grinds that didn't meet at the point; they were off more than 1/8" and that's not acceptable. I was going to redo the whole thing until I got it apart and realized even the holes weren't true and they never cleaned up the stamping. Cheap.

I always wanted an (original) EK knife. I love the simplicity of design.
Just recently Ka-Bar bought the rights to the name and designs and is going to be making a new like of EK knives next year. Hoping for the 1095CV that we see in Beckers etc.

Sounds like an Effingham model, maybe from the Asian steel runs. Is it labelled? Richmond or Effingham?
