I have three new EK knives given me by a relative. There are two commando style knives and one Aussie Bowie. All knives seem to be excellent quality. They were made in Effingham Ill, I guess that makes them a generation III EK.

I was not going to carry or use any of them but my son decided to use the Bowie for chopping. I decided I would make that my carry knife since I had to take a stone to it.

Are these now or will they be collectable at some point? I know the Effingham Knife Works is now gone but understand they are still being made in Virginia.

I do not have a sheath for the knife and would like to make one if anyone has any pointers to share.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Hey Ricky,
Older vintage EK's are very collectible. Sounds like you have the ones made in the more recent years which doesn't mean they are not worth good money because they are well made cutters.. As far as sheath making you need to go to the following bf sub-forum 'the tool shed' to get that information at:

Many Blessings~
