I"m heading overseas in a bit and as of this morning have a delima: I have a older Richmond made EK SF-3 that I was planing on taking with me. However my wife gave me a new production Gerber MKII for Christmas. Which would you take to the sandbox and why? I trust the construction on the EK more than the Gerber, however the Gerber is easy to replace. The EK is not. However is it wrong to treat the EK as safe queen and leave it home instead of taking it. Thoughts?

If you think you'll damage the knife or lose it, then there is nothing wrong in taking a less favored knife IMO.

I would say the Gerber for a few reasons. Easier to replace if lost or stolen and already in a subdued finish. It would be more of a pain to remove the camo paint from the EK when you get back.

I can appreciate your quandry as the Ek is definitely stronger. Take both :)

Take the gerber and see how you like it once your over there. You may find you really would prefer the Ek, or you might find you want something smaller and more utilitarian in design.

I'd take a good ol' Kabar or Becker or some other inexpensive factory combat utility knife. It will get beat up badly, if not lost or stolen, anything you take you might as well expect the worst to happen.

Take the Knive how can easy a get a second one...all so the Gerber...

Because the dagger is not a pry tool...is god for pentration and fast slicer action;) I´ve you wanna pry and penetration get a Strider DB or DB-L...

Alternativ get the Willson pry tool ore the Böker+ pry tool and the Gerber...

Greats
