There's not much demand for the #4, but I did see one go on Ebay last week for well under a hundred bucks. If you want one, you want the Pre-Effingham knives as the ones made in Illinois are crap. I just got a #5 off Ebay which was described as "original", but was actually an Effingham Ek. The Effingham knives are ill fitted, with inconsistent bead-blast finish, and the wodden handles looked like they were carved by a 10-year old kid.
The good news is that Ek is now made by two companies, one of which consists of factory personell from the original Virginia Ek company. I have never seen the new stuff, but I would hope that the new stuff is as good as the old stuff.
