I was going through my truck and came across my EKA folding saw. I haven't used it much since I got my Trailblazer, really a few more years than that, so I took it out in the woods and I remembered how many times winter camping or canoeing trip where our campsite had the better and longest burning fire.

Great saw and I should buy another!

Neat, never seen one of those. I don't want one because I have a little folding saw and a small fixed bow saw that doesn't weigh much for when I need to scale up. And apart from the blades there nothing to really go wrong on that. I've always like EKA knives though. I championed the case for the Big Swede for years. I'd still be willing to put one of those up against a hell of a lot of modern folders made from much better stuff when it comes to woodland work. I've thought they were an excellent bit of design ever since I took a brand new one, put it against a Buck 110, and it pissed all over it. Stanley knife of the woods, brilliant.

I had a normark folding knife when I was in 12 and it was a small version of the big swede. Loved that knife.

Me too. I was about the same age. It was the first quality knife I purchased that actually had some thought behind it besides, "Gee, that looks cool." I don't think it was JUST the small version of the Big Swede. I think it was also the predecessor to the Big Swede by more than a few years. It was a great knife. It still is.

I wish I still had it. I saw one on ebay the other day for a small fortune considering I paid 11 bucks for it back in 1978-79.

I bought one on ebay a few years ago, but it wasn't in the best of shape. It didn't provide the satisfaction that I thought it would.

but you prefer the Trailblazer?

It looks like the Eka triangle design might be a problem with the front hitting the logs as you saw.

I do prefer the trailblazer but the EKA is lighter so it packs better for weight and it takes any 20" bucksaw blades not the proprietary blades . The Eka is fast to set up and you can store extrablades. Both saws will serve you well but I would cut a 12" diameter tree with my Trail blazer and 8" with the EKA. The EKA is not a solid as the trailblazer either.
