I just received a couple of EKA knives from Sweden for a Passaround, and I am impressed with their design and quality construction, especially considering their modest price points.

I was wondering who here has experience with EKA knives and what is your opinion of them?

Thanks. :)

I have an Eka knife that is very unusual. It has hard plastic body, shaped like a small mango. You push a button and the blade comes out far enough to get the nail nick. It locks open, has a leaf blade of about 3" and is about 1 1/4" wide at the end. Steel is sandavick 12C7, I think. They also have in carbon steel You push the button and the lock releases, close and it's locked shut. The handle is all plastic surroundng a steel frame that has the lock mechanism built into it.

Nice knife. Takes a good edge. No longer made. Only problem was it got dropped onto a concrete floor and the handle split open a little where the two halves are joined. Doesn't effect the function of the knife.

I've seen a few other of their knives at gun shows. Priced a little too high in my opinion. You can get them considerably cheaper on the internet. They have some nice all wood lockbacks. I'll bet you'd find 'em in MN.

I have one EKA Masur and I can say that it is a well built knife and very sharp.

One more reason for liking it is that it fits pretty well in my big hands.

If find them very cheap considering their quality.

Regards

Jose:)

I used to own a little EKA knife. Single blade, no lock, with a black plastic handle. It was very similar to the smaller of the "Normark" knives. What I liked about it was that it was very simple to strip (Chicago screw type fittings x2) and therefore easy to clean. I had to replace the inner sleeve of the pivot screws a couple of times as they wore through with use, but the blade took a good edge and kept it better than I had expected considering the low cost of the thing. Unfortunately I lost the knife overboard whilst sea fishing, but I know that if I see others like it going cheap at a show I'll snap a few up as beaters even though I normally steer well clear of a folder that doesn't lock.

One of the "Normark" labeled lockbacks. The wood handle is comfy but light in the pocket and the thin Sandvik blade takes a keen edge. I got it for $20 but I think Ragnar still has 'em for $30 (still a good value).

How can I get on the Passaround for the EKA knife? I would really like to see one before I buy. Thanks!
