Does anyone know if EKA makes knives IN Sweden or are they really knives imported/commissioned and then marketed by a Swedish company?

Not that is bad, mind you. I love my Fallkniven F1.

I'm just asking out of curiosity. :)

Any experience with an EKA W11 Fixed Blade?

Does the steel (Sandvik) hold up?

Well, Sandvik steel is Swedish steel, so it would follow that the knives should be made in Sweden to reduce costs. I believe the EKA 8 might be made somewhere else, as it uses AUS-8 instead. I've had great experience with 12c27. It sharpens up easily and holds a decent edge. It's the stainless steel used by Bark River, I believe.

Sandvik is the workhose steel for Kershaw and it has proven to be extremely reliable and a consistent performer.

I have a W11, yes it is made in Sweden. No I do not like it.

It looks like a "bushcraft" knife but it is a hollow-ground blade (not Scandi grind) and the handle is shaped in a way that you can only hold the knife at a fixed angle. I wasn't impressed with the sharpness as it is the only Scandi knife that didn't come hair-popping sharp. I'd have to seriously reprofile the edge to get it serviceable IMO. Weird sheath, looks 'pretty' but not that practical and will get really shredded when drawing and replacing the knife.

I think it would make a good hunting/skinning knife after removing a lot of metal, but not a great wood-working blade.

The other EKA knives would make better all-around blades. The W11 appears to be more of an "art" knife than a good user blade.
