This review is about EKA Swede 8. EKA knives are produced in Eskilstuna which is located in Sweden. Swede 8 is quite robust and durable folder with locking blade. Blade length is 80mm and thickness is 2.8mm. Blade is made from Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel which is hardened to 58 HRC. Swede 8 is available with rubber scales and wooden scales. My knife has wooden scales made from bubinga wood. This knife feels very comfortable in hands. I have used it mainly as hunting knife. It holds edge pretty well and it`s quite easy to sharpen. Locking mechanism is simple and works fine. Price is affordable too. I got mine for 35 EUROs. If you want durable and classic designed folder, I think EKA is good choice.

Thanks for the review. I have an EKA Swede 8 and am very impressed with it. The fit and finish is incredible and it is a very solid knife. It is one of my favorite traditional folders. A great value for the money.

I have never held the Swede 8 but have been impressed with Masur and customer service at EKA

That folder has grabbed my attention more than once, EKA even produces the old, used to be normark Big Swede from what I understand. I've got a stainless, and carbon 38, and am impressed with 12C27 in particular, mine took a very aggressive edge. Very cool folders for the money. Great photos as well.

Memories............. :) I had the Swede, Big Swede, then the Super Swede about 30 years ago. I lent out the Super Swede on a job site to a stranger. He gave it back to me folded. The next day I saw that the tip was broken off. Lesson learned. Interesting review, thanks.

New Swede 8 redesigned model just came out. The biggest difference is that it now has scandi grind blade rather than hollow grind

The big EKA folders are great. Big Swede was/is called EKA Swede 60 in Sweden. In between Big Swede and Super Swede comes Swede 82 and Swede 92.

I've got a few Outdoor Edge knives, that show a strong influence of the EKA Swede 8, and I've always wanted to try one. Great review and really nice pictures Svahi.
