After looking for a better quality knife to fit between my UKPK and SAK I decided to get a EKA Swede 90 from Casstroms as it is UK legal, uses quality blade steel (Sandvik 12C27) and won't scare the neighbours.

The knife comes with attractive bubinga hardwood scales and has a 72mm blade, corkscrew and bottle opener/screwdriver. All open/close cleanly and there is a decent amount of friction when closing the blade that should prevent any shortened fingers.

The knife fits very comfortably in the hand is easier to handle than my SAK soldier. Out of the box the knife was exceptionally sharp, more so than my UKPK and should sharpen well.

Size is between the ukpk and the SAK and the blade is a more sheeple friendly shape than the ukpk. The blade is firm but due to it's thinness flexes slightly, the SAK also suffers from this.

A few people will probably dislike the knife for having a corkscrew, however, I do drink a lot of wine:) and this makes the knife more acceptable as a EDC in the UK because of the corkscrew. It's similar enough to a SAK not to scare people but also has a very sharp quality blade.

The brass screws enable you to strip the knife and adjust the opening resistance, it would be very easy to customise this knife if you so desired

I would say it is the perfect upgrade from a SAK for an EDC in the UK, for a very reasonable 25GBP.

Thanks for the review! The corkscrew is handy for loosening knots as thats all I use mine for. The blade is thin for superior cutting like an Opinel. That is one stout knife... enjoy!

Thanks for the review, I also like it that you photographed it with a SAK. I think it is a pocket knife that I would carry. A friendly look and all the tools a European needs in daily life. :)

Can you use the end of the cap-lifter as a screwdriver?

You can use it as a screwdriver, however, I would say that it is not as sturdy as the SAK. I tried it yesterday and there was a bit of flex when tightening a screw down tight. The SAK on the other hand is designed to be used heavily and the screwdriver stops at 90deg so that you can use more leverage.
