Now, I know the CQC8 will not be available as a production knife with a satin finish blade. :(

I recently discover the Persian model (very nice knife too :p) and I want to know if this one will be a standard production from EKI. Do you have any informations ?

Thank in advance

I may be wrong, but it seems like the Tactical Persian with be ECA only, and the Persian will be production. Just a different name. Also, I think the Tactical Persian has a zero grind whereas the production Persian will not. You might want to double check though. Give EKI a call, they can answer your question.

Speaking of persian designs, what is the best persian? I love the look of that emerson persian tactical, but probably would never carry it...who else makes nice looking persian style blades?

Also, what does "full zero edge chisel grind" mean, this is from the EKI ECA website in reference to the tactical persian folder...

Again, I might be wrong about this, but from what I can tell, most knives have the primary grind that goes down to where the actual edge or secondary bevel starts. In a zero grind, I think the primary bevel goes to the very edge of the blade without a secondary bevel. If anyone knows if I'm wrong, please correct me on this. It just looks like the primary grind on the ECA Persian goes all the way to the edge, so I'm assuming this is what a zero grind is.

I have an ECA Tactical Persian :D. There were a number of them available in the trade forum here and at another well known knife discussion site. It seems that it is not everyone's cup of tea. The ECA Tactical Persian is the sharpest object I have ever handled. The right side of the blade is flat down to the edge. The left side has a single "bevel", about 11mm from the edge (so high it may not even technically be a bevel). From there the blade tapers continuously to the edge. There is a 1mm wide polished area near the edge but it is not another bevel. This knife is SO SHARP it can shave fuzz from a sheet of paper and the tip can cut curly strips out of the edge. The action of the knife is a bit sticky. I've read other ECA Tactical Persian owners mentioning the same problem. Some users were able to correct the problem. If mine doesn't loosen up with a bit of use I'll just send it in to Emerson for adjustment.

As for the production model... well I sent an email to a well known online knife site that specializes in Emerson products. I asked for estimated delivery time and price for the production Tactical Persian that they had listed on their website. The response was essentially "we have no information". I just decided to get the ECA version. It is a great knife. I am very pleased that I got it. I do plan to carry this knife when I get the sticky action sorted out. During the week the vast majority of my knife use is light duty cutting such as opening mail and packages. The Tactical Persion will do fine for these tasks.

UDATE ON THE ROUGH ACTION:
Writing the above got me thinking about this so I got out my precision screwdrivers, wrapped the widest slotted with masking tape and backed off the pivot screw almost 1 full turn. I was able to get some lube between the blade and the bushings. It is now reasonably smooth (I didn't want to make it TOO loose). I fully understand why they are shipped with the pivot tight. This is one knife you do NOT want opening in your pocket!

Thank for the informations, I hope it will be soon available. I like the specific design (especally the blade fineness (?)) and I know the EKI knives construction is very strong so I have confidence in the quality... :)

I have been watching for news of the production Persian model myself. I don't currently own an Emerson knife, but that deign appeals to me very much.
