EKI production question / Backorders

I ordered a Satin Finish Commander on 1/3/2005. The website I ordered from said they will not have any in stock till about the 30th. The site owner replied to my emails saying that emerson is quite backordered and ETA are hard to get from them..

Anyone recently have this problem? I really want to get my hands on this baby.

::EDIT:: I have bought very few knives and was not sure what I should expect in terms of turn around on popular knives like Emerons.

As I understand it, EKI makes knives in batches by the type, unlike larger factories which run several lines simultaneously.

The SF knives are already difficult enough to get (the BT ones are in higher demand so they make few SF in comparison) and on top of that, the one you want might not roll around for a while.

Try a different retailer?
