someone suggested paragon sports in NYC. i went to their web site, and they didn't have any EKI in the knives section. i did a search, and nothing came up. i'm going into the city in a few days anyway, so i'll swing by and check in person.

any other suggestions? I really want to handle a commander, and feel a lagriffe ebfore i buy.

Paragon has had the same full dress CQC6 there for as long as I can remeber. If memory serves me correctly, three years. They do have production Emersons. They charge full suggested retail. If you venture out to the island, try American Outdoor Sports. They have a pretty good selection. Hope this helps.

Dan- If your downtown then go to an Army/Navy store called "The Trader", it's on Canal St. just east of 6 ave.
They have a very small knife selection but they have a NIB Commander sitting under the glass, it looks like it's been sitting there for years.
(Yes, I checked, it's not a '98) :)
Donald.

Donald,

Nice pic, What's with the spec??? I thought I was the only four eyes:) .

You could also check Iceberg Army and Navy. It is on Broadway off Canal Street. It has a nice selection of Emersons. They do sell at full retail but will be happy to let you handle the knives.

Paragon has a pretty good knife section. Everyone is right about the prices, pretty high. But if you need something fast, or you just want to check out the knives they are ok. Workers there are pretty patient and somewhat helpful/knowledgable. Lots of other cool stuff in the store as well.

i just called paragon, they don't have any emerson, said the woman who answered at the Knives department.

i just called American Outdoor Sports and they seem to have a commander SF- i was looking for a BT though. at least i can handle it tomorrow and decide. i'm going to be out in babylon tomorrow, so i'll swing by American Outdoor Sports.

now to find a place with a lagriffe. i'll poke around places in NYC today, i hope.

I just got a commander from American Outdoor Sport, satin finish, with serration. I think it was $182. They didnt have any lagriffs, they only had a few specwars.

check T&T Gunnery in Wantaug on Seaford Rd. they also have a place in Queens. They should be listed in the yellow pages.

turns out the idiot didn't know what she was talking about. i went to Iceberg. no commanders. the guy there recommended The Trader, like what nowhere fast said. i did'nt get a chance to go there, because it was 7pm, and i wanted to make a beeline to paragon which closed at 8.

got a chance to handle a commander. thing is HUGE! (i'm used to a spyderco native.) really liked the wave, but i'll need to practice the action more if i get.

the guys at the counters said they had no clue where i could get my hands on a lagriffe to feel before i bought. i might have to buy it blind, and if idon't like it, see if i can sell it via ebay or something.

Heyz Hawkins...
Don't worry about you not liking the La Griffe...I reckon that if you do get one, you wouldn't be dissapointed by it...I got myself 3 of the same kind just so that I could keep one, use one, and the other was "just in case"....trust me, you'll like the little fella...
yarP!...:)

I was just up at sports authority using up some of my gift certificates when i found a gun shop on route 112, i'm not really sure of the name, but it is a small gun shop with an indoor range. It is in the basement of a sort of strip mall, next to it is a Western Store, and some kind of middle eastern office(i have no idea what was in this place, but it had middle eastern writing all over it).
The store had a SPECWAR B, a CQC7, a Sark, and a Lagriffe.(All in Black T and serrated) Prices were kind of a lot ($76 for the lagriffe). I have been looking for a lagriffe for a long time and since i was so turned off by the price, i didnt even stop to handle it before leaving.

danj- Tee-Dee Rifle & Pistol Range perhaps? http://www.tee-dee.com/index.html

thats pretty far- about a 50 minute drive for me, but it sounds like its right by coram (i play paintball there, and used to work in ronkonkoma too).

i just want to try holding a lagriffe, see if i'll hate it. if not, i can get it cheaper online, or maybe i can get a decent deal if they can hook me up with a commander for a decent price too. i'll support local vendors, but not at a VERY high difference. (i mean, heh- i'm unemployed and fresh out of college- don't have *THAT* much money! :))

"Several Emersons" !!!!!
I think I'll be visiting Paragon today, just for the museum like atmosphere.
Donald.

ok. after just not having enough time, and having some holiday $ burning a hole in my pocket, i ordered a minicomm and lagriffe from cumberland knives. felt good to click submit and give my business to someone who's on this forum and who gives good prices, instead of questionable places like ... other places :)

hopefully i placed the right order :)
