Before Christmas I was in a local sporting goods store and saw a Maverik but didn't buy one. Went back the next day to buy one and they were gone. Did some online searching and came across the El Morro and thought a USA Buck fixed knife under $20 why not so I ordered a couple of them. I've been EDCing it on and off and used it for a week at work and am liking the small fixed blade for every day use. I really like that it frees up my RF pocket. It only comes in orange and I like orange fine but kept wondering what it would look like with black handles so I dyed a set. Not the prettiest knife Buck ever made but not bad. It came sharp and toothy. Also kind of liking a knife that I'm not worried about doing anything with that needs done.

I have two of the Maverick's.
Both white handle made in USA.
The Maverick with black handle is made in the USA now too.
At least that's what it says on Buck's website.

How do you like the shape of the handle? The white handle is out of stock and it was an exclusive product. Maybe no more?

Very ergonomic.
I don't know if the retailer that had them with the white handle will order more.
I know that when the white handle came out, the black handle knives were made offshore and the white handle was made in Idaho. Now all the 877 Maverick's are made in Idaho. :)

When I went back to the sporting goods store originally to buy a black Maverik the clerk argued with me about it being USA made. He was sure it said China, I knew it said USA because I wouldn't have been interested otherwise. Good to hear about the Maverik, I'll have to pick up one of those too. The white handle looks smooth.

Nice job on the black dye job. Looks great! Every time I look at this knife with its thumb hole in the blade, it messes with my mind. I keep thinking it's a folding knife.

That looks pretty cool. I own the Maverik (USA made) but have been wanting to add a Morro. Both models seem like useful everyday cutting tools.
