This is a well used sharpening stone. Makes me wonder how my edge would be if I just stuck to one stone instead of buying all this sharpening stuff that I have.

Travelling in style. I like to call it the Central American human missile maker. They are riding on top of the roof

Stock! Selectable Lockers, adjustable shocks, altimeter, tip watch (to make sure it won’t roll) and compass. ALL STOCK. How awesome is that. This is on a 97 Mitsubishi sport.

While watching him sharpen a machete, I had to take this shot.

And the traditional box of machetes (1 of 2). Lessoned learned this time: ARC-TERYX BORA 80 can hold 60 lbs worth of machetes and sheaths, and was the most comfortable airport walk around with ridiculous box of machetes I’ve had yet. Win!

Joe, gotta ask, what do you do for a living that you can just go to El Salvador for "machete fun"? That stone is awesome, and they say a stone that isn't perfectly flat is useless for sharpening...

They do like their leather! :)

Just imagine if Leonidas had three thousand Spartans all armed with Salvadoran machetes? :D

My father-in-law is from Guatemala. We bring machetes back every time we make a trip. Instead of El Salvador it says Guatemala. Good working machetes. I like the VW Thing behind the sheath maker.:)

love that buggy!

great pics Joezilla, interesting to see the use of files for blade sharpening......any tips from observing them?

Still have some of my "Corneta" machetes and sheaths from El Salvador from back in the 80's. It was very beautiful there back then as well...just not as pleasant or safe. Is that Lago Ilopango? And is the volcano Guazapa by any chance?

Great pictures!
Ron

I think it is Guazapa! Not sure on the lake but I will find out. Thanks for the comments ya'll

Very cool trip Joe. I really like that plant growing out of the brick picture! No herps?
