Electra Glide in Blue

OK, I'm still way behind my buddy with the float plane and the jet boat, but in my andropause, second childhood, or whatever, I recently acquired a 2008 Electra Glide, in Pacific Blue colour, specifically. I have been lusting after a Harley for several decades now, and the kids never came through (promises, promises). I got retired a couple of years ago, and now that we are back in Canada (Calgary) to stay for the foreseeable future, property prices notwithstanding, my wife took me shopping last May. We drove down to Kane's H-D shop, looked at all the bikes and settled on a 'bare bones' standard Electra Glide. It still came with an electronic security key fob thing and cruise control, but no ABS, radio (who can hear it on the bike anyway?). I put a passenger seat back rest on it, that's all. All the new Harley's now have fuel injection, and it goes like a freight train fired out of a slingshot. We recently celebrated our 39th anniversary in June with a ride on the Glide. The only downside is that I have been wearing a silly grin ever since, and will probably require botox injections to relax the grin muscles. What's your ride?

Congrats for getting your dream bike!

I have a Kawasaki Concours that is great for all-weather touring, LD riding and commuting (I'm taking it on a motocamping trip next week, in fact). In April I got a Ural Tourist, which I have wnated for a few years. It is a Russian sidecar motorcycle straight out of WWII; it's great for local cruising and state forest jeep trails.

For me, it's a Kawasaki KLR650.

I took my truck off the road about 5 months ago, and have been riding this as my sole vehicle since then. I'm strongly considering doing this for a few years.

Good flick, deep reference!

-And unlike a certain actor, cum motor cop, at least you haven't off-ed your wife. ;)

Congrats! Keep the shiny side up.

Thanks, and sorry, no pix (yet), but soon. Taking it in for the 1000/mile - 1600 km. service this week. Alberta roads are beautiful, but I have a hankering to explore Highway 1 down along the California coast now that the fires are (mostly) out.

LOL
ElectraGlide in Blue. 1973 movie starring Robert Blake. Short cop on a big bike. Good movie.

Sounds nice, but when do we get to see a picture?? If buying a Harley, I'm a fan of the Softail Deluxe and the Springer Classic (now discontinued). I also really like those new flat paint jobs.

My own ride is an '04 Suzuki Volusia:

It's 'only' an 800, but I've put 18,000 miles on 'er, including a cross-country trip from New Mexico - Illinois - Tennessee - New Mexico.

Curves are what I love best about riding and my bike reflects that. It's a 1995 Ducati 900SS/SP.

Congratulations on your new bike, and may you be blessed with tailwinds and sunny days.

Now that's some serious riding.

appropriately enough a 01 fatboy, yeah i know insert your jokes here. great bike but i think i prefer the evo to the twin cam. enjoy.
what's the riding season in canada about a month, just kidding.

ahgar,

Ya, well, we just spent four years in the Yukon, where two months of riding is all you usually get (if that!), so six months in southern Alberta (even more, some years) is fantastic! Plus we can always head south, and if global warming kicks in, heck, we might even get eight months of riding! The twin cam is 96 c.i., as much torque as I can ever need, even two up. Seems to have one big sweet spot throughout the whole range.
