This is a belt knife I just finished up. The curly maple is some of the best I have seen, and just looks holographic when moved!
The blade is L6, with hammer texture and some simple file work on the spine. The OAL is 8 3/8", with a little over a 4" blade.
The pins are copper.
Let me know what you think!!

I really dig this one. I'm not usually a fan of filework, in fact I generally dislike it, but this is so even I actually like it.
Looks a good aggressive cutting design. I could really see edc'ing something like this but in a 3 1/2" blade.

L6 eh? I've always wanted to try this one but I haven't gotten my head around the heat treating of it yet.

Nice work!

Love it. Real sleek design, simple, elegant, purposeful. Gorgeous piece of mape there too, and like Stuart said the filework is really nicely done as well.

L6 is a great steel too. I love it on big choppers. Actually used it to pass my cut and bend test many moons ago....

Thanks guys! I appreciate the feedback.

Stuart L6 is very easy to heat treat, and is super tough. I heat treat it along with my 5160. Normalize x times, soak for 10 min at 1525, quench and temper at about 400 for x amount of time.

Just added a couple pics of the sheath.

How did you bring out the curl in the maple? I have read several methods and would like to know yours.

I used Fieblings light brown leather dye to accent the grain, and then finished it off with a couple coats of Tung oil.
Pretty easy.

Exactly- even and sort of subtle. Really nice package.

That is one fine-ass knife. Profile, colors, textures. Nice sheath to compliment it.
