first time poster, love the site learning alot. I just purchaced the electric powered work sharp. I am trying to sharpen kitchen knives that are in need of a new edge. Seems when i get a burr on one side and go to do the other side i get the burr but lose the one i just got on opposide side. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance

That's fine. One side. Then the other. There's a booklet in with the tool. Not a bad idea to read it as well.

That's what's supposed to happen. When you switch sides, the burr will 'flip' to the opposite side, away from the tool doing the sharpening. So, in a nutshell, you're doing it RIGHT.

It can be somewhat confusing or misleading when all the 'experts' say a burr must be formed on both sides. It's actually true, but in the sense it only exists on just one side at a time. Form the burr on one side, then flip it the other way from the other side, to know you've fully apexed the edge from both sides. Then it's a job well done. Carry on. :)

Thankyou Sir
