Electrical?

Okay, I give. I'm hoping someone here can help me out, or I'm calling an electician tomorrow. Here's the problem: The wires on the new grinder do not have any obvious relationship to the wires in the 220 outlet.

Description of wires in outlet:
Four wires. White is attached to a green screw on the outlet that I would presume to be ground. Red and black go to what I think are the terminals of the outlet. There's a fourth wire that appears to have no insulation that is not connected to anything.

Description of wires on B3:
Greet, white, black.

Any suggestions how this should be connected? Or should I call an electrician right away? Our stove is connected to the same circuit, so I know it's hot and it's 220.

Thanks for any help.

Dave

On your outlet
black- hot feed
red- hot feed
white- ground (neutral)
I'm not sure how the bIII is supposed to be wired but I would guess,
white- hot
black- hot
green- ground for 220 volt.
If you can post the instructions I can tell you for sure.
Joe

Dave,
It sounds like someone used the wrong wire in the outlet, but it should work.Four conductor wire is normally used for three phase, with white, red and black being hot and the bare wire ground. In your case,it seems the red and black are hot.I would still check it with a meter. On your grinder white and black will be hot and green will be ground. Thanks, gents, you both said what I thought was true so I took the chance and have been grinding my little heart out!
