Hi guys, I have etched a mark onto some N690 using my electro chemical etcher.

Noticed today that the black areas show a slight rusty colour. Will this get worse or have I done something wrong to cause this? Im new to this process.

It is the iron deposited in the recess by the AC making cycle. You can darken it with a Q-tip and FC, or use a sharpie. Rub off the excess on the flats and the mark should be darker. Another thing to try is oiling the mark with a good gun/knife oil.

After etching the mark rinse it off with windex and water.

I actually place the blade in a baking soda bath and let sit for 20 minutes to neutralize the acid

This is why thy make the neutralizer. Who did you get your etching chemicals from?
