Looking for advice. I am planning to use these on an indoor range. There maybe several other shooters present. I like the ability to have a normal conversation while on the range and plan to "double up" with ear plugs while wearing the muffs. Torn betwenn Pro Ears ProSlims and MSA Sordins Supreme. NRR ratings favor the Pro Ears but the MSA Sordins get high marks on the forums. I realize there are other makers out there and the choice can be very personalized. Any thoughts?

I have tried several pairs, including the ProSlims, and really don't notice a lot of difference between them at the indoor ranges. The best bang for the buck, imo, is the line carried by Dick's Sporting Goods, but I do prefer my Peltors for their comfort, noise attenuation and hearing capability. I don't know that I'd trade them for anything.

What I looked for when shopping was simple comfort. Did they fit snug, but not crushing? Plenty of room for the ear without any pinching? With a hat on?

I figured I could double-up with plugs and muffs, but found the plugs completely unnecessary even when shooting indoors.

Can I hear conversations when other's are shooting around me? Yup. All day long. The only time I get any clipping of words is when the shooter is very close, and I don't mind that.

Best part is that I can hear conversations really really well when there isn't any shooting around the range, and you sometimes get to hear some really juicy whispers!! :D

I haven't used the ones you asked about. I have been using Peltors Tac 6's (think that's the model) for about 7 years now and have liked them a lot. The rear head band is a nice option so you can wear a hat outdoors if you like.

Got my first pair of Pro Ears in 1995. Still have them and they still work. I now own at least three other pairs of Pro Ears. In my line of work, I wear them everyday rain or shine outdoors. I even wear them when hunting because I can hear so much better with them on and I have a pair by the bed in the event of a home invasion. Not only do I want the protection from shooting inside my home - trust me it is deafening - but also so I hear much better.

I've tried every brand on the market. I'm not going to put down any of the other brands but I will tell you Pro Ears are excellent. I have to live in mine at least 5 days a week for 9 to 10 hours a day.

If I was shooting inside I'd go with the Pro Mags because of the additional NRR. When I work inside a Tactical Simulator/Shoot House that is what I use.

BTW, the electronics on Pro Ears can be adjusted internally. You can switch the DIP switches to get different acoustical output. I only use the N Battery Models and I can tell you they last a really long time as long as you make sure the units are powered off at the end of your day.
