Nice!

This will give the folks who prefer something other than the excellent O1 a nice stainless choice.

Other than the stainless properties, do you notice anything different about working with the stainless steel? I know it is more complicated to heat treat, but does it temper to a similar hardness etc as compared to the O1?

The stainless is more difficult to work with. It has scale that must be ground off, which uses more belts, and must be wrapped in a special stainless foil before heat treat, both of which add to the cost. It also costs more than O1. I heat treat to the same hardness as my O1.

Mine isn't stainless, but it definitely my most used and carried JK.

One Hell Of A Knife!

I may well consider something in this, as I love 154CM steel! :D It may be one of the older steels, but IMO, it is a great all-rounder, and doesn't get enough respect. It is easy to sharpen, and holds a good edge for a reasonable amount of time. A very balanced steel based on my experience with it.

John, would you be using plain 154CM, or the powdered CPM154, just curious? That stuff will be pretty sweet at a Rockwell-C of 60!

Will these be available with something other than a Scandi grind? Maybe high saber, full-flat, or even better, full-convex? TIA!

It will be 154CM, not CPM154, I've offered it before. Flat grind with a convex edge could possibly be an option.

Please put me on the schedule for an Element 154CM Hunter. Red liners and rounded spine, no sheath. Thanks!

Jeff

John, please go ahead and put me in line for one of the stainless steel Element Hunters. Details pending. The only thing that would have me reconsidering is if I can't get something other than a Scandi grind. Thanks!

John, I know you want to wait until I receive my Hiker's Backup, but can I at least get a placeholder in line? I don't want to miss out.

Posting this here too for visibility.

I thought this was a good idea, a popular model in stainless, but only one was ordered. I guess people are happy with the O1 version.

One more week until I order the 154CM. If you want one of these in January, order now, I'm only placing one order for steel, and probably won't order again.

John, just sent you an e-mail. I have decided that I would indeed like my upcoming 154CM Stainless Steel Element Hunter to match my #6 Hiker's Backup.

That is, flat ground blade, rounded spine, and Green Canvas Micarta handle scales with double blue and white liners (with the blue against the steel and the white between the blue liner and the green canvas).

I would like to go ahead and do the leather pouch sheath as well.

Thanks John!!! Can't wait!
