This knife has been worked on for over a year now. The gentleman who ordered it, was not in a hurry and he new my work rate is not what it once was.
I would not have chosen to make this knife if it were a matter
choice. Coffin handle knives never appealed to me, just a personal thing. Nor do I like the looks of a big clip point blade. It's just a matter of personal perception I know.
But I must say; after working on this, on and off, for over a year, I've learned to really appreciate it for what it is. It is very well balanced, has enough weight to remove an arm and pointy enough to be used to spear something or someone. Razor sharp all along it's 9 inches of edge.
The inlay is elephant hide, the stitching was by hand. The basket weave over lay top was stamped first and then sewn.
