I've aquired some genuine elephant ivory to use for handle material. I have some ideas on what I'll do with it, but would like to receive any sugestions seeing as it's hard to find, not to mention expensive before I touch it. I am thinking of doing a drop point for the blade, and the handle by inlaying the ivory with some Lapis Lazuli or Malachite. Boy this is a tough one to decide, I have enough for 1 to 2 fixed blades and a few pockets. thanks

OK, Lady Colt. I would start with a good fighter and then add a matching pair of grips for a Colt 1911.

Well heck, I guess you could send it to me and let me figure out something to do with it:D Seriously, it will look great on whatever you put it on.

Depends on how big a chunk you have. I still have a ten pounder that I haven't cut up. I also have a lot of scraps and pieces. I use the small stuff for butt caps and inlays. My wife made me make an ivory latch for one of her pocketbooks. The very small pieces get turned into gunsite beads although warthog ivory works better for that because it doesn't yellow.

For the bigger pieces, be careful about how you cut it up. Do a search here. There was a thread a while back on how to cut it.
