I'm in need of seeing some custom knives with elephant ivory handles. Not mammoth, mastodon, walrus, etc. - just good old fashion elephant ivory. :)

Thanks!

Here is one, The Parlor Folder

Just to add another fact, right now there are reseves in africa where the park administrators have, for a number of years, set aside the predators that would prey on baby elephants in order to increase their number. After a long time they had to start taking down some of the older and or sick/weakest individuals. I heard (not sure it's true though) that some ivory can be bought legaly today from those carcasses or that one can buy the right to hunt such animals in specialized hunting agencies throu the world. Sounds reasonable to me, though I don't support the hunting of any creature just for the sake of taking away a jewlery prize.

I agree it was a bold statement.

Just to be back on topic: here's a knife by Korth Cutlery in Brazil

I know that the mammoth ivory is much more plentiful but there is no comparison between the two. The elephant ivory is just gorgeous!

Beautiful knives,

My pictures are certainly lacking, so for that I apologize. :o

However, the knife is a beauty...

It's barbarism to use it!

I think your comment is too general. While I agree that it is wrong to kill elephants for their ivory, I see no problem with the use of pre-ban ivory. I tend to prefer ancient walrus ivory, but the scales on those Bose knives look great.

Holy Crap, that Hancock is incredible!

Here's a JW Smith, it even has a carved ivory backspacer :)

Another Bose and one from Don Hanson
