Hey all aside from the cheap chinese imports does anybody produce a reasonably priced version of this pattern, all i seem to find are pricey ones, really nice but outta my range of under $100.
I have a RR cheap one its okay but it peaked my interest, strange little pattern, like to check out a quality version, anybody a fan of this pattern?
Thanks
ivan

I have one...a Case Elephant Toenail in Midnite Black Bone...it has Tested XX on the side.

I like the pattern, although it is a tad bulky to be an EDC.

Used it a couple of weekends though where we were cuting a lot of bailing twine it was awesome.

Mine was less than $100 I'm pretty sure. And with a Case its made in the USA.

Aren't those two slightly different patterns? It seems to me that I've seen a S&M sunfish that was much more narrow than an elephant toenail...

yeah they are but tend to get lumped together on listings and descriptions because they have a squat, fat blade, at least in my online travels. I was just wondering if there are any decent manufacturers making either style?

Toenails, sunfish, rope knife....different names for basically the same pattern. There are some swell center patterns that look a bit different but it's generally a big honkin spear point blade and a mega pen blade. One place to check to read more about them is http://elephanttoenails.com

oh yea, and I never get tired of looking at this one by T.Bose :)

In the same boat brother, got a RR with bone and would love to try a good quality unit.

A round my neck of the woods, the only Case knives are typical patterns. And every time I see a nice one on eBay that strikes my fancy someone drives up the price :(

That swell center Bose is amazing :D

Well not even in the same leaque with that fantastic Bose toenail but a lot more affordable are toenails or sunfish made by Bulldog or Fight'n Rooster.

These knives given you an affordable production knife that has character and quality for under a $100.

But just to be truthful I really, really would like to own that Bose Toenail.:D

Here is an example or two..

Being a FleaBay warrior, I have picked up a number of sunfish/toenails by Case, Bulldog, Fightn' Rooster, Marbles, Winchester and John Primble, and a few Rough Riders for the beater box. (Looking at the Marbles toenail, I suspect it came out of the same factory as the Rough Riders.) I don't recall ever going over a hundred bucks for any of them. I thought I was going to have to in order to get a Primble, but someone listed one with a BIN of $85 which lasted about 20 minutes before I snagged it.

Love this pattern, even if it is bulky and heavy :D

Pretty decent stag used on those two. The Bulldog is nice except I'm not fond of the way they executed the match striker pulls but the finish otherwise is really nice.

Hey Kerry you wouldn't have a pic of that Bose Pearl Rope/Sunfish/Toenail knife you presented a while back would you..That knife still haunts my dreams..
