I built this knife for the Art in Steel show, it is one of the longest blades I have forged. The handle was built as a take-down then permanently fix after final assembly. The mild s-guard is made from 416 stainless steel with copper accents. The 416 stainless butt cap and copper accent were carved to match the elk horn. The blade is 12 1/2" long make the complete knife 18" overall. The clip was ground to a zero edge and lightly sharpened to create a true fighting knife. The blade was hand finished to 800 grit and the furniture has a 1000 grit satin finish. It is well balanced and quick for it's size. The sheath is a multi layer construction of 4-5 oz. order to have only smooth leather exposed inside and out. The snake skin inlays are timber rattler which have good contrast with the dark brown dye.

Thank you for looking and all comments are welcome

Very nice! Lots of folks look down on elk because they think it weak or hollow, most of the pieces I find are darn near solid and very strong, that piece you have has more texture than usual, nice piece, nice match

I think we should refer to this knife as 'The Great One', in honour of your city's favourite son.
Goal!

I learned how to play hockey in the Gretzky arena :)

Nice job. I love elk antler. Some of the brow tines are real solid stuff.
