Hi everyone!

Was thinking of getting an Elk Ridge Orange Camo Hunter/Hunting High Carbon Knife Skinner Survival ER-271OC. Not as a tactical nor survival blade as I live in a hecka urban area, but just to mess around with it.

Was wondering what you guys thought of it?

Thanks!

Most of the Elk Ridge products have always felt cheap to me, but thats because they are. That being said, if you just want one to mess with then go for it. I dont want to put somebody off of something they want to buy, but just know it probably isnt gonna be the nicest/best blade youll ever own.

Elk Ridges are inexpensive decent knives. They give you a a lot of bang for the buck , steel and edge retention are fine, they are comparable to either Aus8 or 440c , the difference among them is negligible. This is not a good place to ask for them though, because this is a place full of purists and knife nuts (knuts) who tend to spend most of their income on knives. I am a working man and every day user and I can tell you that if you want a workhorse and a beater, Elk Ridges are fine, as long as you be willing to take proper care of them (honing/sharpening) frequently, and you use them for their intended purpose which is cutting, slicing, skinning, boning and the like. That been said, get a Mora Swedish made knife or an Opinel from France at th same cost and a far better steel choice.
