Anybody know if the instructions are online somewhere?
I just received my burner kit from Ellis but they forgot to send me the instructions. I can pretty much figure it out from the photo on their site but I'm not sure how to get the mig tip to get to the center of the air intake in the "t".

It looks like I will either extend the threads on the 1/4" piece of piping or drill out and pressure fit the piping..

Thanks

I'm not sure if I understand right, but the gas tube that the mig tip is attached to can slide in and out to any depth that you want. It's pinched and held by friction when the split nut is tightened.

Good luck with it, Craig

They must've changed the design then. The gas tube is threaded at both ends and does not slide through nor is there a split nut.

This is the image from their site. I'm not sure how to get the gas tube through unless the instructions are to construct the system you are describing.

Yup, you have to do a little constructing. To get the mig tip on, you have tap the ID of the gas tube. The gas tube is passing through a hole in the the thing that I'm calling a split nut. You make a criss cross hack saw cut in the threaded part of the nut so that when you snug down the nut it tightens on the gas tube and holds it in the position that you want. I'm sure Darren Ellis would pass along the details if you ask, to finish your burner kit from him.

Good luck with it, Craig

Thanks. I think I got it from what you describe. Tap the end with 1/4 28 for the mig tip. (I'll have to pick that up tomorrow)

Should I also drill out the threads from the other end so that the tube can actually pass through? I guess that's obvious... just thinkin' aloud.

I think this makes sense now... Thanks again.

I take it that the wide end of the steel collar is the end to tap with the grub screws? I can't seem to get it to slide narrow end first. (I didn't realize it was tapered)

you should post a picture of your parts to get a full description and explanation. Have you contacted the folks at Ellis? Im sure they could email you a copy of the directions.

I think the collar is the last question but in looking at Zoellerforge's version on this drawing I clears it up for me. I just cleaned up the inside of the collar and ground down the weld and I can get it to fit.

Contact with Ellis?... easier said than done.

Stuart -- If you send me an e-mail message, I will send you the instructions as a pdf. It should have been noted on your invoice that we send the instructions out upon request -- several customers do not need them because they have put them together before, others just order for component pieces, others lose paper copies we mail -- therefore, we find it best to send them as a pdf so customers will have access to them anytime they want/need.

Hi Kathryn.. Sorry about that.. I was pretty sure I asked for instructions but maybe I forgot to. It didn't take long for me to see that I was a little lost once I opened the parts package.
I got it together but couldn't get it to light. I think the problem was that my wobbly chuck in my drill press caused an off center hole so the gas flow wasn't straight enough.

I'll send you an email. Thanks.
