Pics were taken in Kruger during my last visit in January. For those not familiar with it, it is a fairly big park about the size of Belgium. You are not allowed to leave the car except in designated areas or when hiking with rangers. Not just because of the man eaters, many of the veggies are also cautious about people walking (poachers walk so they are an enemy). Cars are not sees as enemies so they tend to ignore you. Enjoy.

Herd of ellis, the older ones are all females:

Standing on a side slope taking pics of martial eagles and suddenly this younger bull walks into the clearing. He was clearly in musk so you keep you distance. Some people say elephants are the kings of the jungle, I would rater say they are the holigans afraid of nothing.

Was a hot day so he ignored us and went for a bath.

LOL, you would be the burger. Elephants in musk are notoriously aggressive. Think of them as spoiled teenagers, just a little bit bigger with tusks. I've seen them take down trees, scary stuff.

A couple of years back I went to Entabeni Game Reserve, they were very careful with the elephants there because the had lost two Land Crusiers couple of weeks earlier. On the other hand elephants are great photo subjects, they are not afraid of you, so you can take your time. You can also use longer exposures to get the roughness of the skin into the pictures.

Jeez....I guess I'm better off at McDonalds. Hmmm....sometimes I wonder. :D

Trips like this are why I need to win the lottery. If I win the lottery I'm doing one trip like this a month and doing a giveaway on the forums for an all expenses paid trip for someone to come along each time.
