Hi, I was looking at a knife blank made of elmax (rc 59-60) and was wondering how hard (or easy) elmax is to resharpen in the field. I currently have a worksharp guided field sharpener that i carry with me and didnt know if elmax would be difficult to sharpen using it. Thanks

It's not bad, easier than S30V and requires NO special stones to sharpen. Some wet/dry sandpaper and a paint stick would do the trick or just about any pocket stone.

I sharpen it up with a Spyderco Double Stuff stone and a bare strop when I'm away from home. I use loaded strops and maybe a Sharpmaker (if necessary) at home. I have Spyderco & ZT Elmax blades and they've all responded well.

I don't know how worksharp do but Fallkniven DC4 ceramic work just fine without any problems.... elmax stay sharp long long time in normal use

I have the ws filed sharpener, and im using it to sharpen my zt 0562 Elmax with no problems at all, the dimond plates are great.

Most of the time i just honing it at the ceramic rod.
