Email/account question, please help.

When I first registered here I used the email college email address I had at the time. I after I graduated from school I didn’t sign on for some time and forgot my password. I couldn’t just have the site send my password to my email cause I also couldn’t remember the password to my school email account (I set my computer to simply remember be).

So I created another profile using my current email address, I don’t remember if I posted with the profile or not cause I remembered the password to my original account soon after.

I just tried to update my profile so that I get emails to the account my current account but the system tells me that the address is already in use.

I’m wondering if one of the mods can help me out. I’m not sure what there is to do. If one of you guys ban that second account will I be able to use my email address?
 
I'm not to sure what the problem is. Too many obvious errors in your narrative.

Are you using the same username now as you did in school?
What is your "current account"? The school account or the other profile you started?

You do not want an account banned.

I’m using my original account. I only registered the second because I couldn’t sign on to the first.

I don’t recall what the user name for the second account is. I only used it a few times I don’t know if I even used it to post. The email used for it is ja.mattson@hotmail.com if that helps.

What I’m trying to do is use the above email address for my account.

Sorry for the confusion I had just woken up and was a bit groggy…
 
Now I understand.

* Your first account is good to go again, now that you've remembered the password.
* Your second account is inaccessible because you can't remember the username.
* But your second account is tying up the email address you want to use on your first account.

* I have no idea how to access your second account without knowing the username.
* The simplest way to resolve this would be to abandon the email you used for the second account
and establish a new one, which will be accepted by the first account.

* (Even if we access your second account, we cannot just delete the email address. We would need to replace it with another, and we couldn't replace it with your old school address because that's tied up in your first account.)
 
Thank you for taking the time to answer my question, I’ve noticed a lot of spam lately so I know you guys really cant spare much times for idiots who cant seem to remember passwords. I really should start writing these things down.

I was considering doing just what you advised but was hoping that I would be able to use my ja.mattson@hotmail.com account since that’s the one that I already check on a daily basis.

I guess what I was hoping was that you would have been able to find the user name for the second account( I was hopping you could search for it using the email address) Then I could set up a third email switch that one and be able to use the above email. It wouldn’t really matter what email I used for that account since I really have no intention of using the account, aside from it being against the TOS to have multiple accounts its just way to complicated.

If its not possible then its not possible. Thanks again for taking the time to answer my question.
 
I can't access email addresses. I tried to find it as an alternate IP but no other username came up. If there's any way you can remember the new username or even part of it, let me know.

Wow do I feel dumb…

I had tried what most all of the other user names that I’ve used for other forums (spyderco, benchmade, knife forums, car and driver, etc) and none of them worked. I never occurred to me that I would have just used my name a second time…

I got everything worked out. I think I’m gonna change the password on the second account to a random set of numbers and then deactivate that email so I wont have to worry about violating the TOS.
