Apologies to members on here who had SPAM mail from my AOL Account. Mine too appears to have been hi-jacked. The "link" seems to be "AOL" members and the emails go out to people we have corresponded to on here - so far I have not had friends from other locations say they have received SPAM ostensibly from me - so if anyone here with technical know-how can help - much appreciated.

I have changed my AOL password - but wonder if the link to Bladeforums means it is happening via our accounts here? No records of mail are in my messages box - but seems strange the recipients are all from prior contact via messages.

That is typically the way it happens. I doubt it is related to BF, more like a sOP for this type of issue.
Run your Antivirus for good measure.

Quite a few AOL accounts have been hacked, I received a few from others I know!
What a pain!!
I ran a anti malware program and had to change my password quite a few times, I hope it's over!
Good luck!

I was just about to write a message on your visitor wall about this Joe. I think I have four or five from you already; two from today. Good luck cleaning up the issue.

Sorry about this!! It's still going on!
I have tried anti malware and changing my password, but from the look of it I am not the only one!

It's all good, Joe. I'm wise to the ways of opening e-mail in a sandbox. Good luck in your battle with the mail bot.

The latest on this is that AOL are advising that the accounts are not being "hacked" because the sent e-mails are not showing up in users sent boxes. They are saying that spammers are using our email to mail people because there is a greater likelihood of the recipient opening the mail by recognising the sender.

This however fails to explain how some SPAMMER has got all our contact information to work out who to send the mail to.

Basically there seems an obvious problem with AOL but they want to play it down .... lets hope the issue is sorted soon.

Any luck with your aol email?
Mine seems to have calmed down, but a few still seem to get sent out. I haven't been getting as many mailer demons.
