I have subscribed to a numerous amount of threads and I receive an email when someone responds to a thread I also responded in. The problem is that instead of receiving one email I have been getting 2 or more with the same reply with a message from the same poster. As far as I know you should only get one email and you will see any other replies after that one was posted. Why am I getting 2 or more emails? Is it a system glitch or something on my end?

Example:

Hello K.V. Collucci,

FoxholeAtheist has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled - Florida knife regulations - in the Knife Laws forum of BladeForums.com: The Leading Edge of Knife Discussion.

This might help.

It's my understanding that (as Shootist mentioned) is that a "common pocketknife" is okay, and not considered a concealed weapon. If you try to look up the definition of "common pocketknife", you'll find a big void, which means it depends on the officer on the street, and/or a trial to decide. I carried a Benchmade AFCK for years in Florida, and was never once questioned about it poking out of my pocket. I would do so again without worrying about it.

If you are going to be in FL for a long time, consider getting a concealed weapons license. Then you can carry a Busse Battle Mistress concealed under your jacket with no worries. :D

It's also apparently legal to carry just about anything openly in Florida, but I've never talked to anyone who has done so. I would imagine some people would get nervous seeing that, so were I to do that, I would "hide it in plain sight" somehow.

Good luck!

I received 2 of these with the same date and time stamp.

Ken - I get the same thing...a lot.

I used to think it was just because the user was clicking "reply" too many times. That was after the last upgrade. But it's been quite ongoing now for sometime....so I'm wondering if there's a glitch. Sometimes I get as many as 5 copies of the same reply email - same exact time/date stamp.

Doesn't rule out the "operator error" thing, though....

[quick-edited to add]
(just FYI - I clicked "reply" only once)

I haven't been subscribing to threads lately, but in the last few days I've been getting duplicate messages when someone clicks the "report this post" button. Maybe related....

In response to this post I got 2 emails saying that Daniel Koster posted a reply and Cougar Allen replied. I should have only gotten 1 email saying that Dan replied and when I clicked on the link I would have seen that Cougar replied afterwards. I should not have received an email saying Cougar posted a response.

Dan,

No operator error here! :D ;) :D

Ken - something I've noticed.

If you're "online" when 2 (or more) replies are made to a thread....you'll get an email for each reply. Because, technically speaking, the replies come "since you last visited".....if you never left (still on the forum) you get them continuously.

Happens all the time in the H.I. forum.....Bill posts his "Deals for Sale" and they immediately get 20+ replies. If you reply to it and just wait, your box will fill up fast.

At least, that's what happens to me....

FYI.

I just got a double on this thread:

Dan, that scenario is understandable and I fully accept that. But it still doesn't explain why I'm getting more than one email telling me same poster responded. That shouldn't happen whether I'm logged in or not. That's my major issue.

Not knowing if this will be helpful or not but I do not get more than one notification per message.

Maybe there is a setting you guys have switched, or some database corruption on the back end?

Not sure what's up. I need to upgrade the forums version, maybe that will fix it.
