Just wanted to warn people.

I just recieved what looked like a email from the swamp "ratknives@insightbb.com"
It contained a password and a file that said new price list... if you get this don't open it.... it's a VIRUS

who the hell would do something like that? Did you get the IP? Moderators might be able to tell who sent it, since it almost would have to be a member of the forums.

I still have the email if someone can tell me how to get the ip from it....

Well, this is definitely disturbing since that is one of my email addresses. However, the only thing I've sent out recently is the Crash Rat pre-order updates. In short if you aren't expecting an email from me don't open it. And none of my emails contain files, so never open one of those

I don't know if you are using outlook express, there might be some kind of menu to find, never have used it. but if you use a free type email, there is a button that says something like "expand header" or "show info" and it should list IP and ports and all the technical stuff.

Has anybody else received this email virus?

I use outlook for the addy that this was sent to.... and just got hit with another one today....

Funny thing is that the email getting hit is not the one I used for my orders from swamprat

I am messing around with the outlook program, and I will tell you how to get the IP as soon as I figure it out.

For Outlook, right click the message in question, left click on Options. Header details are in the Internet Headers portion.

When you look at the headers, you'll see a bunch of "Received From" tags; the lowest Received From tag on the list is the originator of the message. Get the IP, and do a whois at www.dnsstuff.com to determine who the IP belongs to.

Raden,

I have good news and bad news. The good news is that you are the only one receiving this particular spam -- so the rest of us are safe. The bad news is that we all think you're crazy for making up this story. :p

:D :D

Hmmm. Okay, I'll add that joke to the "Not Funny" pile. :)

You mean the email for that super, uber, low priced Rat Kensi and micarta HR is bogus? :(

;)

I got the IP and sent both the emails to our system admin at work... the last virus was self extracting without even opening the email. From what he just told me it was probably a program that picked a allowed address from my list and some other comp stuff that I don't understand. Will keep yall updated if I get more or any new info.
