Sorry for the ignorance, but is the ability to email BF members function gone?

There use to be a way to send emails to others through the BF system.

Thanks
Joe

Didn't know this ever was and am kinda glad it isn't the forum has a private message system, granted it is behind a pay wall, and users can setup for email notifications of things like PMs and other forum actions so would seem redundant and opening up personal data to other users.

It was a feature when Bladeforums was set up on vbulletin. Bladeforums switched over to xenforo in spring of 2017, a few months before you joined.

Not exactly redundant as it gave everyone a way to contact someone else privately without the paywall. That is, if they had it activated and it worked properly as it was occasionally wonky and emails didn't always go through.

No personal data was shared unless you wanted it to be. For example, if I were to email you, you would receive it through the forum email system and i wouldn't be able to see your email address until you choose to responded to me.

I had never seen it used on other vbulletin systems myself but this is the first forums I have used with any type of pay system for features, and it makes sense, so probably wasn't enabled on any I had been on previously.

I used to use it fairly often to contact non paying members with info, or for them to contact me on sales. It was a useful feature, but sometimes new software has it's sacrifices. I have never liked posting or being posted to in the profile page.
