Hey guys, first of all I wanted to thank all of the wonderful members of this wonderful BF CRK Community who had been instrumental to the few wonderful pieces I have acquired ever since I joined Blade Forums late 2014.

You guys were a huge help in providing all the knowledge that I lacked when I started with my CRK journey. I have enjoyed and laughed at most of our short conversation here via thread or PMs. I am hoping that in time, I get to return the favor to all newbies looking to start in their CRK collection as well.

Ernie1980, hodo615, Shayjoshi, Steel_Addiction, Ajack60, flyingjon, w4rmk and Santana San: Thank you for deciding to let go of your CRKs and giving me a chance to own the pieces I got from you guys. Some of these guys are very generous as well, and I highly recommend each and everyone of them. I owe you guys some round of beers...:thumbup::thumbup:

bhyde, Lone_Wolfe, nyefmaker, Haze, James_Longstreet, Vaporstang, Kidcongo, hoodep, lisantica and Dhbranum: I received some of the best advice and compliments from these guys & gals. The sheer knowledge some of these people have on CRK history simply amazes me. I also had some of the most interesting conversation with some of these people regarding all things CRK. Thank you! :D

derekshields, Kilo11, Paprepper, FlyinLC, kinagoo, Naganalf, Vaporstang: To the buyers I have dealt with, thank you for giving the pieces I "needed" to sell a new home. I hope all of you were well satisfied with our transaction. These guys are also very highly recommended.:thumbup::thumbup:

I recently got the inspiration from LW and some other members here. In so doing, I would like to share and dedicate this thread to my CRK journey.

============================================================================================

My very first CRK was a Plain Jane "PJ" Sebenza 21 that was purchased around September 2014. As most of us who posted on the "The 1st cut is the deepest, Do you still own your first CRK" thread (by kidcongo), I have come to regret the decision to have sold my first Sebenza as it was my very first introduction to the "above $100.00" and "my wife will absolutely kill me" knives.

and then there were some other pieces I had to let go in order to acquire another CRK piece... and so the story goes...

I hated to let go of some, especially the last 2, but it had to be done in order to make way for the incoming ones. :(

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And so after a few months of owning and enjoying some 12 to 15pcs of Sebenza 21s, I discovered what the hardcore collectors here called as the "Regular Sebenza".......

to be continued as my boss has this dagger looks already due to me slacking off work.... :D:D:D

And so after a few months of owning and enjoying some 12 to 15pcs of Sebenza 21s, I discovered what the hardcore collectors here called as the "Regular Sebenza". I liked how the blade shape on these Old Regulars looked, but was put-off when I discovered they were already discontinued. I decided to put it out of my list of the Sebenzas I wanted at that time.

At the beginning of 2015, I decided I was ready to take the next level and get a Sebenza with a Damascus blade. I searched and must have looked at hundreds of photos before I decided that the Spirograph Damascus was gonna be my first one. Talked to a couple of dealers and eventually my hopes were crushed as I found out the CRK does not offer the Spirograph pattern anymore. So, I was left with Raindrop, Ladder, and Basketweave.

I eventually discovered KnifeArt and learned about their dealer exclusive, which are the Carbon Fiber Sebenzas, and fell in love with it completely. However, the damascus versions were not in stock and since I was in the mood of shopping on that particular day, I opted to get my first Insigno.

then after a week or so this happened... this piece was only 11 days old when I got it.. :D

I freakin' love this Raindrop Damascus. Of course we have to have a shot with literal raindrops on them:

Then Blade HQ exclusive happened. :D:D:D

I absolutely think that the BHQ Carbon Fiber Inlaid Sebenzas would have been great if it came with a sandblasted scales instead of polished ones. I want to thank @flyingjon for agreeing to sandblast this particular piece for me. Totally dig the sandblasted look..

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had a hiatus for a few months (or was it a few weeks, I honestly don't remember), when I saw this piece posted. I totally was over the moon with this one as it was my first choice for the Damascus. I was pretty happy coz not only were brand spanking "just manufactured" new, they were also TNK exclusive "limited edition" Spirographs... :)

========================================================

As you might remember at the end of my post above, I mentioned that I discovered the "Regular Sebenzas". I decided at this time, I was gonna try and get my first Regular Sebenza, which I considered as a sign that I bought my last Sebenza 21 in order to pursue the Regulars... or so I thought....

Next chapter will be continued tomorrow... :)

NOTE*** Please pardon my photos as they were all taken with my camera phone, which is my camera of choice most of the time and one which was always with me... :)

So the hunt for my first regular was on and have been searching and waiting on the for sale section for weeks... When I finally found one for sale, my curiousity kicked in and I wanted to check the history on this particular piece first as it was the very first time I've seen it and had no idea what it was all about.

That one day wait cost me the Regular as it was sold to another member here. I was so disappointed with what had happened as I finally took a liking to the design of this piece. To make the long story short, I ended up hounding the guy who bought it and kept on asking if he wants to sell it to me. He finally gave in and sold it to me, probably because I was such a nuisance (Thanks Howard!!! :D)

This piece totally opened my eyes to the Regular Sebenzas. It is also my very first Unique Graphic Sebenza. It has been a really slippery slope after this piece...

Can't wait to see your thread fill up! I hope to see a November 10, 2015 CRK here soon. I'm keeping an eye open for one.

I love these stories. Reminds me when I was a kid and the month before Christmas was a continuing story about Santa Claus every day in the newspaper--remember newspapers? That's the way this is, can't wait for the next chapter.

Great thread man! I find the origins of these journeys a fascinating subject; also very cool to acknowledge those who have helped you along the way; can't wait to see what's coming next.

Hey ice_man, I was a little worried when I initially saw this thread. I thought you were leaving us, which would disappoint me as I enjoy reading your posts as well as others you mentioned.

Looking forward to seeing this thread develop... well done.:)

Same to me. I was starting to read and thinking "my god! He is going to say goodbye" ....

Thanks for your kind words. I always appreciated our conversation and hope to continue. Looking forward to read the next chapter of your personal CRK story.

Great thread. Thanks ice_Man. My story is similar. I didn't even know about CRK until late last year some time after I found this forum and bought and sold a few non CRK knives. Then I found CRK. I've also had some transactions with the folks you mentioned above - all excellent. I've asked some questions via PM and threads and received polite replies with good helpful information. I still have some Benchmades, Emerson, Microtech, Kershaw and others. I even have an Opinel I got from my Dad after he passed. Never really knew anything about it until I started looking around on the forum. So here are my current 3. Wish there were more...
Pic1.jpgPic2.jpg

Unfortunatley a Small plane jane, Small CF KnifeArt 21, and an Umnumzaan had to find new homes in this quest. To be continued....

That's the trifecta you own there kgajewsky (quit now while you still can!!!)

Great thread Ice Man. Thanks for the shout-out:thumbup:

Nice to here your story and look at some of your first knives. I myself started with an umnumzaan, Then a Ti-lock Prototype and then a regular sebenza. I have had several nice CRK's but have yet to purchase any annual sebenzas. Still on the lookout to purchase one and cant wait. Anyways thanks for telling me about the Blade forums Ice_Man :)

Lol. I was hoping that I would not give off that impression. But, I think it worked out okay either way as some of you guys thought I was leaving. Then completely got a different twist...

Speaking of twist, i hate missing that for sale Twist Damascus a few weeks back... [emoji24][emoji24][emoji24]
