Embassy Auto?

Just got an email from a fairly popular knife dealer announcing a new run of Embassy auto knives from Spyderco. These are in s35vn steel, which I don't think was the original steel on these. I thought this model was discontinued? Anyway, thought it was interesting enough to pass on. I might be wrong on that, wont be the first time.

cool they brought it back but pricey. the autonomy 2 is better and much better priced. I passed as the 3.1" and change blade never was real useful for me. prefer they brought back the citadel in an xl version or an xl version of this embassy.

The autonomy 2 is my new favorite automatic knife.

I'm a customer of the "exclusive" dealer selling this auto but I don't subscribe to their newsletter (or any others). So, I didn't know about it b4 now.

It's kind of underwhelming but I bought one just to go w/the Citadel and Autonomy2 that I already own.

That’s actually a pretty solid reason to buy one. Spyderco makes a high quality automatic knife. I hope they start to make more given how states are legalizing them.

I should also buy the Automony "USCG rescue" knife to complete the set but I just don't like blunt edged and/or fully serrated knives, even if they're that way for a reason. ;)

I’m holding out for the orange autonomy 2..... if it ever happens
 
I will buy a Citadel if they ever come back.

Two things:

1) weren’t the original Embassy and Citadel models made by like Paragon or Harkins? I wonder who made these

2) The original Citadel was like $120 new, they now sell for like $400!

Bought the embassy. So glad you brought it back. Also buying the autonomy 2...which is very cool as well.

Looking forward to any further autos you might be working on. They are very appreciated. I foolishly sold my citidals years ago and wish I hadn’t. Be interested in those (both sizes) if they ever made a comeback. All your autos are very nice, and very well made. You should be very proud of them.
 
I got my Embassy in yesterday. It is an awesome piece, fires hard, functions great, perfect size for carrying. Fit and finish is A+. A really fun knife to fondle too.

I have a Citadel and would buy an updated version only if the safety switch is substantially enlarged. The one on mine is too small and fiddly to operate. Have to use a thumbnail to move it; impossible to do w/gloves on. The Autonomy fixes that "problem."
 
I thought the citadel safety was okay. It just moved around too much. Was rattlely on one Model I had. However I loved the Citadel and cannot recall why I felt the need to sell it. I think I was offered stupid money for it and I couldn’t pass it up. Regret it now.

Sal, Illinois approved autos with a FOID Card. Lots of people are carrying them here. As a police officer, I have ran across tons of them on people. And they were all legal too. I think this auto market is growing

That’s funny. The safety switch on my Citadel is very sticky and difficult to move w/o using my thumbnail. The fact that it is so small and recessed also makes it difficult to move. At least, that’s the case w/mine.

BTW, I just received my Embassy. It was as expected; neither great nor awful.

Functional but not as good IMO as the Citadel or Autonomy2 that it joins in my collection. However, it does have a better safety than the one on the Citadel but the safety switch on the Autonomy 2 is far better than the other 2 in this and pretty much every other way.

Just got it.....LOVE IT. this knife does not disappoint. Exceeded my expectations! The safety is perfect. The gals and boys in Golden did a fabulous job. I’m going to get a second one. This feels so perfect in the hand. Perfect size. I’m sorry for gushing so much but I didn’t think it would be this good. But it is.
