New user. Just embedded a 1.5 MB pic from Photobucket in a new post two days ago. Now I cannot embed a 1.0 MB pic, either in Reply or New Post.

Please tell this newbie what his user error is. Using Insert Image icon.

Thanks

Since you are using Photobucket, you don't need the Insert Image icon. Instead use the fourth Photobucket URL, the bottom one. Copy that and paste it: it has IMG tags already attached.

Esav,

Well, it's late enough for me to not feel too bad about a SUE (stupid user error.)

New to Photobucket too, of course. Three days ago, when I joined, I managed to put a 1.5 MB pic of my restored 110 for all too see. I copied the URL from Photobucket, pasted into a Create New Thread post, did an Insert Image, did a Preview Post, and it looked good. Submitted it, and it looked fine.

Trying to replicate that now, and can't.

When you say fourth icon, at the bottom, is that in Photobucket, or BladeForums? When the Preview worked last time it had tags, just like now, except now I can't preview my pic.

Sorry.

Fourth Photobucket icon. Under each Photobucket picture are 4 links:

Email & IM
Direct link
HTML code
IMG code

Click on IMG code to copy, then paste in Bladeforums composing box.

Not sure of the relevance to your issue, but if you still have problems make sure the "Retrieve remote file ..." box is unchecked. Posting images will fail everytime for me if it's ticked.

Yeah if you have hit your attachment limit, it will fail every time. Check and see how many images you have uploaded.

Also, 1.5mb? Really? Optimize people

Oops. Almost 300. :o

I've been linking everything from my own domain for the past year or so though, and the "retrieve" thing is only an issue when I occasionally forget to uncheck it.

Guess I need to clean up a bit anyway though.

The 'Retrieve Remote File' thing annoyed me consistently, having to uncheck it every time. I eventually figured out I didn't need to use the 'Insert Image' button, or the associated pop-up dialog box at all. Just copy (Ctrl-C) the URL of the image with the IMG tags attached (as Esav suggested above), and paste it directly into the editor window with your post (Ctrl-V). Works like a charm.
