Emerson and other wave openers -- more than one way to open one handed or not?

I have never had an Emerson, but wanted to know if there is a way to simply use one handed by opening the waved feature the same as you want a thumb stud. Any ideas? Thanks everyone.

Yes although it is more comparable to using a thumbhole rather than a thumbstud. The emersons come with the very ergonomic thumb disc or with an additional thumbhole. You cant really go wrong with an emerson, and waved spydrcos are pretty nice as well.

Vallaton diskin dual action had Otp thumb studs. I can open most any knife with thumbstuds Otp. My umnumzaan opens Otp like Emerson. I used to open the nakamura like an Emerson zip tie mods on spyderholes works also

I have a CS Mini AK-47.
I can wave it when its clipped, not clipped, and even wave it out of my BACK pocket.
The plate can be used traditional, and quickly with a wrist flick.
So, yes. And Emerson, Cold Steel, and even Spyderco have waved models.

If the question you are asking is can the wave replace the thumbstuds, I'd say yes. I would love to see some Emersons without the disk/hole. I have taken the disks off of my Emersons and it works, but it leaves an ugly ass gap in the top of the blade.

Thanks everyone. I just recently got a CS Spartan and haven't really gotten to where I can open one handed yet without using the wave feature.

The CS Spartan does require a bit of a different hand motion to open one handed. I have to grip it fairly high and use my first three fingers to grip the handle really hard so that my thumb can get the leverage to open it.
