how many eki knives leave the factory for the soul purpose of being issued to spec-ops guys and witch knives get used bye them the most? just curious. iknow the commander , cqc8 and the cqc6/7 have been but id like to actually get some info from people who know alot more about eki knives and the soldiers that use them. i wish i could give every soldier in the feild a brand new cqc8 for christmas . if i only had the money.

i dont know if anyone knows that, as far as custom stuff it couldnt be that many he doesnt make many of them, i would say production stuff would outnumber the custom stuff by 100 to 1 at least, probably more. also the custom stuff is high $$ unless ya get it from ernie, i would say most soldiers couldnt afford them. i know some custom stuff was designed and issued to the military but havent a clue as to the #'s, i would think it would be small though.

agree with ya the '8 is a great one, production or custom.

thanks sifu1a it doesnt sound like alot of info has been circulated about their military status. unlike some [other] companies. every seal thats held my cqc8 say they like it and want one . ive had other spec-ops guys check out my collection and say how they wish they would have had an eki instead of what they had to make do with over seas.

What did most of those guys actually use? I'd be interested to know if they all were issued the same thing, or if it varies, or what.

Personally, I'd take an 8 with me if I were in their shoes. Or the 10 that I already have.

my freind steve who was dischrged from the seals about a year an a half ago said he saw alot of ka-bars and even some really cheap crap people were using . the way he talks about knives is different from the way me and you talk about knives . he said almost every seal had the tip on thier knife broke off from using them. he doesnt know alot about different makers and such but he does know what designs work for seals and witch ones dont . the knives he said he used got used more as screw drivers and pry bars than anything else . said he didnt remember seeing any "nice" knives while in service. you would just have to hear him talk about knives , its weird . funny thing is , he works for a company that manufactures explosives now. he sure likes eki but not the price tag. next time me and him go to the range ill ask him more about what knives he /them carried and when hes gonna get a cqc8, 'a real knife '. PS he said he prefers HK usps and glocks in or outta the team and so does every smart seal .

FWIW in gen'l most folks in the service use whats issued in regard to knives due to regulations in some cases but mostly just they aren't into knives/& arent gonna spend there hard earned $$ on something that the military issues them, & hey the military wont issue anything not top notch right??

then, on the other hand there are guys in the specops community like Greg Walker (Spec. Forces) who not only carry the best knives around they also publish magazines about knives, IIRC "fighting knives" was the name. obviously he is into knives.

probably more of the first though.

roger that ,sifu1a. alot of spec-ops have never seen an eki let alone a dark ops knife and wouldnt spend the money even if they had . from what ive heard , they probably need sharpend pry bars any way

we should watch our selves lest we get a " mall ninja" in our midst. sorry i couldnt resist that . just realized this might be a good topic for them .LOL

hi there.
l think the price tag that comes with the Emerson knives are a bit too much for the men in the services. There are allot of excellent knives around that are allot cheaper. And when all is said and done you would use a firearm first and formost. lf that did not work and you need to use a knife you would use a fixed blade knife with a good grip and a big cross guard. l do not intend to show any disrespect to Mr Emerson and his great folders. This is just my opinion.
Regards.
