I just received a HK CQC7, it's made by Bencmade, looks like a CQC7 though. Any way, the black coating on the blade covers the serrations as well, so only the plane edged part of the blade can actually cut. Should I try to sharpen the coating out of the serrations? Was it supposed to come like this?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I had a couple of Benchmade/Emerson CQC7s. Loved them both, but one was just not up to par. The blade had a dull spot on it right out of the box (this should have been a clue). After months of carry and use, it just literally fell apart.

Also check here for more on Benchmade's Quality Control.
