OK guys, since you all were a bit
reluctant
D) to post a (mini-)review of this knife, I'll do it myself.
I got a "used" one in mint condition (plain, black Teflon coated blade) in the meantime:
the Blackbird's handle ergonomics are about as good as the Commander's, but the design is far more simplistic (= versatile). The pronounced thumb ramp, along with the index finger choil, provides an exceptionally secure grip.
The lock-up on mine is solid and the whole knife is extremely stout (very little handle flex).
The opening action is buttery smooth and there's virtually no detectable blade play.
I like the classic clip point blade.
Bottom line: this is a great folder ("you get what you pay for" certainly applies here) that could be totally awesome if it only had a Wave. Get one while they still pop up on the for sale forums from time to time.
slices and BBW,
thanks for your replies.
