Emerson blade coating - Logo

This question is about the blade coating and Logo on black Emerson blades.

Example - I have knives by other manufacturers that when the blade coating was stripped down to bare steel , the logo - if any - stayed visible due to being laser etched - or other method of logo placement unknown to me.
Where other logos were merely painted on and came off during the stripping process.

If the coating is stripped via stripper , does the logo come off as well or is it laser etched/etc to be permanent ?

Thanks , Tostig

i removed the coating from a lagriffe and the logo remained.

i have never tried with any other emerson.

May I ask how did you removed the coating from La Griffe.
Thanks for answer.

I think it safe to assume he disassembled the knife then used paint stripper to remove the blade coating , that is what I have used in the past.

There is nothing to disassemble with the La Griffe. I just soaked mine in brake cleaner for 10 minutes, and the finish came right off. The La Griffe coating isn't the same as the regular blades though.....

Interesting.... I stand corrected.

I wonder why a different coating would be used ?

correct, i just applied some regular hardware store paint stripper. the coating on the lagriffe is basically just paint.

the folders do have a different coating. dlc perhaps?

It is not DLC but is not same as on Griff. The coating on La Griff is more coarse for not to slip in hand. But on my has on the tip get down immediately I get it out of the sheat.

I have stripped a bunch of Emerson knives but i use 120 grit aluminum oxide and that will take the logo right off.
