Are all Emerson knives supposed to have a year printed on them? I just purchased a CQC-8 BT W to add to my Emerson collection and after looking it over a few times i realized that it had no year date where my others do. Is it normal to see this sometimes? Number on it is #4058 . Also on this blade the grind comes very close to being a chisel grind which seems weird. The lock side the edge is less than a 1/32 of an inch wide while the other side is around an 1/8 inch. Debating on possibly returning this but first i would like to know if this is defective or just a rare combination of uniqueness. It was missing the sticker that's usually included as well.

Starting this year 2015, Emerson stopped printing the date on the blade. Personally I would like to see them bring back the year date on the blade. I have bought a couple of Emerson's specifically because of the year stamped on the blade and the importance of what happened that year.

What S.T.R. said , regarding the year stamp. As for the grind, hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like a v-grind (and I assume a chisel edge).

That looks like a normal CQC-8 to me. Emerson's V-grinds still have only one secondary bevel on the presentation side. The other side only has the primary bevel from the flat down to the edge. It's not really a chisel edge like the CQC-7b chisel edge, but it's close. That's normal for a V-ground Emerson. You still sharpen the side with the secondary bevel and just knock the burr off of the other side, just like on the true chisel ground blades.

Did you buy it from a dealer? Usually the decal is kept by the person who sells the knife off.

Wow, that CF Metro looks like a monster knife mutant or Godzilla next to the CQC-8... and the 8 is not a little knife.

was "new" from amazon. Rockmountiantactical was the vendor but it was a a prime candidate. couldn't find it anywhere else so i pounced on it for 204 and change.

Wait, do you mean that you picked up a Crusader Forge for about 200 bucks? Wow!
