anyone know why emerson always uses the same blade thickness? same .125 all the way around . personally id like something a little more beefy on some models. also , about the liners , why dont they make the side of the liner that engages the lock a little thicker? maybe im wrong but wouldnt more surface contact between the liner and the blade be a good thing ? just a little stouter there for peace of mind i guess . ive never had an eki fail me ever but just thought id share my feelings on this . btw i do know about the recent 1911 knife that does have thicker liners and would love to see this mod on other eki knives as well .

just speculating, but i would say the blade thickness is because with a chisel grind, as most have, a thinner blade makes for a better cutter, especially in the shorter blade designs. also a thicker blade usually means thicker scales, liner and overall, so carry becomes a concern.
regarding the liners i dont know, but i have never had one fail either.

Emerson stock liners are the same thickness or thicker than Spydercos, Benchmades, Kershaw, etc.....I've never had one fail:)

thanks for the replies guys .btw , anyone ever seen an eki with a nsn on it ? just wonderin cause i heard about a michrotech with one on it . not that important to me . i just really like emerson knives and would like to know more about those rare prototype models that we never see.

why dont they make the side of the liner that engages the lock a little thicker?
They do. On my 2005 Super 7 and 2006 K-bits the locking liner is thicker. Looks like by 1/64 of an inch by my steel rule. They look the same on my 2005 SOCFK.

Whats a nsn?

Vu

nsn stands for national stock number . the numbers you see on silencers , gov issue crow bars and stuff like that . heard of a michrotech with one on it but no emersons though.

i have seen pics of strider MsF MARSOC folders with a NSN FWIW, IIRC a run of custom emerson CQC8s for navy specops had a NSN, am not sure if the # was stamped on the individual knives though, it was on the striders.

i dont recall any MTs w/a NSN though, i know mad dog knives made some for navy SEALs that had it, maybe a run of strider fixed blades also,
