I think I've caught the Emerson Bug. I don't seem to mind serrations, black coatings, or sticky linerlocks anymore.

I just want some Emersons.

Does anybody have a good suggestion as to what my first Emerson should be?

I've been looking at the CQC-8, CQC-7, Mini A-100, Mini CQC-15, Mini Commander, etc......

I made a CQC-8 my first and am happy with that decision. I would also consider a commander.

I went with a plain edge and satin finish, though.

If you're looking for an EDC, I would go with a "mini" version of one of the models. The mini A-100 is really a nice size. Otherwise, start with one of the classics - 7, 8, Commander.

Out of my collection, the CQC 7A and the CQC10 are my favorites.

Welcome to the club!!

But I don't have my CQC10 yet! :(

It's hard to say as they are all excellent. Mini's and full size. Humm.. I say go for the CQC7 first. It's a classic and every Emerson fan should own one, or two.. Have a 7A,7B,8,Commander and I find myself flipping one of the 7's the most. But I haven't had much time with my Commander yet.

My EDC is a plain blade Super 7 and has been for about 8 months now. Awesome knife. I have actually carried it instead of a fixed blade a few times, and with confidence.

Hawk I agree, a 7A B OR C is a must have!
Then all the rest follow..But you really needs a CQC10

You need a CQC-12, Persian and an HD-7 and all the other hard to get goodies :p

The CQC-8 in one of it's forms (mini, reuglar, super) is defo. one of the best EKIs out there just now so that would be my choice.

Tough question. I like my mini 7b, but think the snubby would be just about perfect as an EDC.

Do your self a favor and only settle on the 09 models with the stone washed/satin finished blades. The best build EKI has done so far on the prod. end of knives. I've got a 7b that has the thickest g10 on an Emerson prod. outside of the 98 and 08 Super Commanders I have seen. I also have a Commander that has the thickest liner lock of any EKI I have owned save for the 98 and 2008 reissue knife. Just damn good build quality not to mention the new blade finishes with the swedge is how they should have been done since the beginning. keepem sharp

Snubby..sure make me feel bad, I just sold mine last night, on the BF Canuck sell and trade :(

Why do Emersons seem to be so rare?

They are a smaller U.S. company that produces knives in batches. The demand is high for plain edged variants especially so they batches tend to sell out fairly fast. Then.......you just have to wait for the next batch to be manufactured.
