Emerson Clips?

The non waved 7s were IIRC.

BM used Torx screws.

yep all the BM 970 series was tip down,

all the EKI's i have ever seen were either drilled for both or tip up with the great majority being tip up.

I'v not seen many at all drilled for tip up and tip down. If there is extra holes
tapped it's usually for left or right tip up, like on the combat K,bits.

gotta be EKI's, AFAIK none of the BM's were ever tip up, well, not without modd'ing anyway.

Correct, SIFU1A. I've owned every version of Benchmade 970/975, including the auto (9070?? I forgot the model number), and none of them were drilled for 'tip-up' carry.

I did have a very early EKI waved CQC-7 that was drilled for 'tip-up/tip-down' carry, so they did in fact exist.

I asked Warren about the 7 being tip down and he told me that was the way the knife was. So, that's the way he left it when he did the mod.

i really liked my 975Sbt other than it was tip down, i prefer up, but anyway the 975 was cool because it was a bit longer 3.8: IIRC, and EKI didnt really offer something comparable, then EKI came out with the I&I tanto and & i swapped for one ( a spydero lum tanto folder IIRC it wasnt LNIB though, the I&I was, the owner didnt like CG's) i rarely carryed my 975 much afterwards, i thought the I&I and the 975 would be similar and i suppose the blades were pretty close but the handle was completely different like a viper kinda, and i liked the I&I a lot better, of course nowadays its hard to find I&I's and the are expensive when found, i always liked them though.

but the 970 series were all good imho, i always found it strange in the day ya heard of so many liner lock issues with the EKI stuff and rarely heard of any with the BM's, go figure.

i always wanted a auto, (9700 IIRC) and almost got one more than once thru swapping but nothing ever came thru, still wouldnt mind one.

1A--- So the EKI's had some LL issues and the BM's did not? I wonder why?

ya got me on that one bud, i honestly dont know.

were the BM LL's better? i dont know, my 975 went all the way to the side (like it shouldnt do...) but lock up was still solid, i was gonna send it to BM but got the I&I and one of my buds had to have the 975 (i told him about the LL) so i sold it, AFAIK he still carries it and hasnt had any issues with it, & i also had a couple of 970's but they were both 100%, i've had a lot more EKI's with exactly one knife having LL issues, a SOCFK (which EKI fixed).

i guess maybe a lotta the EKI's were commanders or waved models and the waving is hard on 'em, but i remember a lotta folks complaining about '7s too and most of them werent waved then,

i dont know, i just always found it strange lol.
